Greek mythology can be found in many movies that have been made from cartoons to action films. The most famous cartoon movie for children that focuses on Greek myth is Hercules. He is seen in the movie with his faithful horse and the struggles and comedy of being a strong man. The Odyssey is based on the book and features struggles with mythological creatures. Xena has been featured in movies and even had a television show made after her. Helen of Troy is one of many movies that center on the time period of the town of Troy and the challenges its residents faced. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is loosely based on the books that children enjoy reading. King Arthur has been portrayed in movies for adults that involve action and in children’s movies. The movies for children are humorous and offer some facts but they are basically for entertainment. The Mummy has some reference to Egyptian mythology and The Book of the Dead. It includes action and keeps the viewer’s attention. The Disney movie Aladdin is based on Arabian Nights and the mythology that surrounds it. Jason and the Argonauts is about Jason’s life involving Hercules and is more for an adult audience. There are several mythology movies to choose from for all ages to watch.
